Central America is a land rich in exotic hardwoods, many of which are ideal for the manufacture of fine furniture. While ANTIGUA is a production facility, our furniture making process is rooted in traditional old-world carpentry. That said, some of our fine artisans will quickly tell you that they are not merely carpinteros but rather “ebanistas”.
The difference being that an ebanista is a master craftsman who, through years of practice, has learned to build fine furniture from scratch—without the benefit of power tools—using just a plane, carving knives and a hand saw.
Many of the 4th and 5th generation ebanistas that Antigua is proud to employ have been instrumental in the development of our extensive hand-finishing processes. In every fine piece of ANTIGUA furniture, you will see the personal touch of an ebanista. |
